When you decide to visit Romania don't ever think it is a poor country with a backward or uneducated people.It's true that Romania has, like any other country of the world, poor people living at the subsistence level, it's true that on romanian teritory you will see also places in lack of even the most basic elements of the actual civilization. But this is not typical of Romania.

Unfortunately, due to some political or even social events which brought this country on newspaper's pages as being a source of delinquent emigrants (mostly gypsies who are nothing else but a simple ethnical minority in Romania and by no means a predominant feature - with whom even the romanians doens't feel too confortable), has been created a negative and somehow exacerbate perception regarding the romanian society. Let's not forget that italian, russian, albanian or chinesse mafia are far superior in toughness, proportion and atrocity to any romanian example.
Though, not about infractional hierarchization of Romania on mondial level we want to tell you, but only about the fact that if you start from a wrong ideea regarding the country you will visit, you may have pretty unexpected surprises and sometimes you can find yourself in very embarrassing situations. There were many foreigners just arrived in Bucharest Airport having the thought they will visit or make business in a backward country, but they found themselves in an area with friendly and educated people of whom behavior and knowledge had put them many times in dificulty.

Romanians benefit of a quite complicated educational system which includes a wide area of fields, while the economical development of the last years gave birth of some whealts which easly can compete with the ones who live in Beverly Hills or Monte Carlo. So... in Romania you can meet remarkable people of whom hospitality, culture and civilization you can enjoy in an unexpected way. It remains only that you decide what you want to choose from this immense cosmopolit cocktail.

You must understand that Romania is a country of extremes, an unusual mixture of erudition and street violence, of luxury splendour and beggary, of somptuous architecture and miserable streets, of extravagant shops and disorganized markets, of exclusivist locals and squares where drunkards and hopheads can be seen. In a word, this is a country still seeking her identity, but in no case a savage or illiterate nation.
Romania is exactly the result of the mondial tumult which had crushed her, overhelmed her, and even sometimes ruled her, due to her ungrateful site at the sensible and pervert frontier of the great geopolitical interests. Last years, Romania tryied to respond to the occidental interests and standards, even it had injected in its veins the lasting poison of communism years which was never desired but only forced. Romania is a broken country through the experiments and settlements of the great powers, and the fact that this country tryies to come to light and even succeeds is a plus reason to not treat it scornfully. The romanians are people who accepted they are the victims of mondial modern evolution and they admit the pressure of this situation which they hope is only momentary, but they don't understand why the others who take benefits from this script take the liberty of deride them?!

Do not treat romanians in a overbearing manner. You will obtain the same attitude!
A smile or a higher level of sympathy will offer you the surprise of some people with whom certainly you will feel fine.
The romanians do not wait you in Romania to criticize or make fun on them or be treated with a defiant superiority. Romanians want to do business, to entertain together, to show you places and landscapes which certainly you will not forget. Romania is an experience which must be lived and felt with a certain feeling of condescension, cause if something, somewhere, anywhere on this planet... is bad, for sure each human being has a little guilt for that. And Romania fully knows it!
